Classic Movies

Here is a preview of some really classic movies that are well known through-out Bollywood  These movies were truly epic...I obviously cant talk about all that is contained within the movies but you should definitely check them out, and most movies will have english subtitles...though they may be off at time. LOL

1.) Hum Sath Sath Hain

This movie is about the love of a big family, and how it can overcome anything. In this movie there is a very large family composed of a mother a father their three sons and their daughter. Their daughter is already married and has one daughter of her own. Within this movies there are fun times when the extended family gets together. And eventually the three sons must be married. There are trials and tribulations within the movie, but the love of the family and a new addition to the family brings everything into perspective and once again the family is whole again.

2.) Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge

This movie is an epic love story. It is almost like a desi version of Romeo and Juliet. The hero falls in love with the heroine and vice versa. Yet the heroine's dad is very strict as most desi dads are with their daughters, and he does not approve. On top of that he knew the hero before he met the heroine and changed in his love for her. He knows of his bad boy days past and is bent on making his daughter marry someone from a well bred distinguished family. He regrets allowing her to go on her school trip to Europe, where she meet the hero.

3.) Devdas

This is a true love story, one that was destined long ago. Two best friends from birth fall in love and are determined to be together. Yet their parents have other plans and the boy's family is rich while the girl's poor. The rich boy is sent to London to study while the girl patiently awaits his return back in India. Yet when he returns his family forbids their marrige even though he loves her. Thus he begins to drink consistently. The girls mother disgraced by the marriage refusal, tells her daughter never to meet the boy again and soon gets her married to someone else. Will their paths meet again?

4.) Kal Ho Na Ho

Kal Ho Na Ho is a story about a new boy who comes into a town bent on making peoples live livelier  This man has cancer that no one but his mother knows about. He makes two friends. He knows that his friends are in love with each other but they do not express it. He teaches them to come out of their shells and live life to their fullest. He shows them that time waits for no one and he enjoys watching their love bloom. Unfortunately his life is cut short due to his cancer, but his legacy lives on.

5.) My Name is Khan

This movie is about a man with Asperger syndrome. He lives life in India until his mother dies, then moves to the US with his brother and his wife. There his brother forces him to become independent because he believes that his brother is just pretending. Later his wife who is a doctor diagnoses him with Asperger syndrome, and his brother sees how he has wrongfully thought of him all along. he man had fallen in love with a hinduism practicing Indian, and they lived a happy life together with her son, although he himself is an adament practicing Muslim. When 9/11 hits, their son is bullied at school and eventually killed by a couple of fellow students. The wife blames her husband, and the man starts on his journey to meet the president and explain to him that he is in fact not a terrorist. Along the way he faces many trials, racist people, and is even arrested and asked to reveal terrorist information which he has no inclination of. He also preforms wondrous acts on his way which make him well known in the news and eventually allow him to meet the president.

Forms of Music

Like all cultures there are many different genres of music:
And like all genres of songs there are new styles as well as old styles.

Romantic
This genre happens to be my mothers favorite type of music. Though she prefers to listent to the older versions of this style than the newer version. I on the other hand would rather listen to the new style of romantic music than the old one any day...though there are some classics...
Old:
Kabhi Kabhi - Kabhi Kabhie
Dekha Ek Khwab-SilSila

Classics:
Tujhe Dekha To Ye Jana Sanam - Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
Aankhen Khuli Hoo - Mohabbatein

New:
Saans - Jab Tak Hai Jaan
I Love You Sayyoni - Aap Kaa Surroor

Hip Hop
This genre is pretty well known to most of the younger generation and much more preferred than the the older more romantic music. Actually most of my friends enjoy listening and dancing to this style of music more than any other...

Old:
Bolo Ta Ra Ra - Daler Mehndi
Jhalak Dikhla Ja - Emraan Hashmi

New:
Ajab Gazaab Love Title Song
Superstar - Imran Khan

Traditional
These songs are just classics, basically songs that are very well known and we can sing everyday.

Old:
Bumbro Bumbro - Mission Kashmir
Lathe Di Chadar

New:
Ishq Hi Hai Rab - Dil Bole Hadippa
Hum Jo Chalne Lage - Jab We Met

Bollywood Music

Okay so this post may not make a lot of sense, but i feel like if you know hindi or urdu it will be so hilarious!
In all Bollywood movies it is mandatory to have at least three random dance sequences. They are always dramatic and pertain to something that is going on within the movie. Yet if you look at it from an outside point of view they are completely random and you dont really need a song to explain what is going on. Yet there are so many Bollywood songs, that they can be used in almost any situation at all.
Lets not forget the fact that the main characters must change in to a million different outfits an locations throughout the song!

This video incorporates famous Bollywood songs into "normal" conversation, but in a very dramatic and funny way. I'm sorry I cant translate the whole thing, the meaning will be lost, but i hope that you guys enjoy!

Desi Aunties

All right, so desi aunties....
We all know how they can be. Lets face it their main purpose in life is to make their child better than any other child community, and to gossip about everything any other person in the desi community might be doing. Basically desi aunties can talk nonstop about nonsense, I feel like sometimes they will even make things up that are ridiculously untrue. We've all grown up with desi aunties, we all know which ones to avoid and how to keep distance, but sometime or later you will end up on the topic list. Desi aunties just can’t control it. It’s in their system to gossip.... even when you are literally sitting two feet away and can hear everything they are saying. It’s like a disease; one I hope that I never inherit!
Check out this vid showing Desi Aunties in their natural habitat by another famous youtuber: Zaid Ali:

Memes!

Finally something we can relate to. My favorite pass time when im bored, or basically just in the mood for procrastinating....( i kno 'haraaammmm') lol but i like to flip through some pakistani memes so funny! heres a sample:
So ishq, it means love, or it could also mean party, in this case it is obviously the former meaning and its making fun of how in Bollywood movies all actors basically fall in love at first sight.

Hahaha and I find this one so Cute! Keeping it halal all the time ;) ;)

Alright so halal...this is a complicated word to explain. It basically means holy. Anything muslims eat must be halal, meaning non dirty and not containing any of the forbidden objects told in the holy Quran. relationships can also be considered halal is they do not go against the teaching of islam, which means no kissing/ touch etc. before marriage, an only to your husband! Sometimes these ideals can be taken to extremes and other times they are ignored but they will always be a part of the Islamic lifestyle.

Bargaining

Ever wonder if your parents are the only crazy ones for discounts. Don't worry, my parents will litterally drive for miles for a deal even though the cost in gas would cover the cost of buying at the local supermarket. Desi's will always look for discounts. You know how in the Middle East every price is negotiable, desi's somehow assume its the same way here in America too. They think that they negotiate set prices, and the sellers are like ...no...this price is non negotiable....but theyll still try to bargain. They think tat they are all experts of everything, like they can look at something and asses its price and try to negotiate the seller into bringing it down for them. this almost never works, but does that stop them from trying every single time...no. and these negotiations rent a matter of a few minutes, but long agonizing hours that basically take up all your time in one shop! Desi parents when will they learn?
Translation: aunty you should at least buy it now! You made me bargain this down at least 90% its basically free!

Life in a Brown Family

Check out this insanely funny video showing a typical day while being a guy in a Middle Eastern family.
This is fousey, he is one of my favorite youtubers and I follow his every video. He is hilarious because I and basically any real brown person can relate to some of the situations he mentions and I know that even looking at it from a different culture’s point of view, it can be hilarious.
